Spain December 2023

Several times a year I head out to the Murcia region of Spain – One of the few advantages of being old and retired is that you can grab a cheap flight at the quieter times of the year.

In the autumn and spring, I usually take my camera.  There are a few nature reserves in the area, and the weather is not too hot for wandering around with a heavy camera and long lens around your neck.

This time, there were reports of owls near the village where I stay.  Unfortunately I didn’t come across any owls, but I did get some shots of birds that were new to me – namely, Eurasian Stone Curlews, Sardinian Warblers, Little Stints and shrikes, along with the usual Flamingos, Egrets etc.

Most of the shots were taken between the villages of Los Nietos and Mar de Cristal, and at las Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar.
